26/365: Paint

As I was reading through some blogs this week I was inspired to try "light painting."
I started with a flashlight, but it ended up being too bright for me to create a shape...although I do kind of like this circle.

Since I couldn't think of anything else that lights up, I just used my cell phone to draw this next picture. Please note: you can make out the keys in the corners of the star. I think it gives some character.

Did you know...there is currently snow in 49/50 states? Guess which state screwed it up? Nope your wrong, it's not Hawaii.

See you tomorrow in a snowy NYC!

24, 25/365: Rain!

We have had a nice change from the snow over the last few days.  It has actually been too warm in my apartment.  This could potentially be due to the fact that Jaime and I discovered the knob that turns on our radiator in the living room.  Add this new-found heat source to the above freezing temperatures and the inability to control the heat in our bedroom {there is no knob or on/off switch of any kind} and you get an inferno.  While I was excited to finally have heat in the living room it has made me realize that I can either be too hot or too cold during the winter, and right now I cannot figure out what is worse.

In other news, we had a bit of a scare at work today.  As you all know, I am working in midtown and we have had our share of false alarms and close calls over the last few years...but this story has to take the cake.

You can read about it here, but the short version is:

  • an Israeli bank received a suspicious package
  • no less than half a dozen fire trucks, and the bomb squad showed up at the building next door
  • employees were evacuated from said building
  • false alarm
  • it was a Hallmark greeting card
At least I know those security guards aren't slacking on the job.
Now, on to the rainy pictures!

24/365: Keep me Dry

I couldn't decide if I like this in color or black and white. What do you think? {click to make it bigger}

25/365: stay.
I love.love.love this picture. The orange umbrella makes the rainy day seem so much better.
Everyone should be required to carry brightly colored umbrellas in the city.  It would make the dodging pointy edges of umbrellas, inevitably getting hit and getting wet and slipping seem... not as bad....even if just a little. While we're at it, we should also be required to learn at least one song and dance that we could jump into at any second.  Let's be honest, if Gwyneth can do it can't we all?  I truly believe if we lived in a world where we could break into song and dance at any moment, I'd be a lot happier.

Goodnight all!

19, 20, 21, 22, 23/365: Long Weekend

Hi!

I apologize for waiting so long to blog this weekend, but I have been quite busy.
CannolisBrooklyn MuseumBilly Elliot, FABULOUS dinner {who knew I would love Peruvian food??? Look at me expanding my horizons, Dad} and lots of pictures made for a very eventful holiday weekend. I have to thank MLK Jr. for today. It was lovely to have the day off.
Here's a glimpse into the last few days.

19/365: TKTS Stairs. Times Square.

20/365: Twin Lamps in Nolita
I was walking downtown with Christen trying to find something to do indoors since we got out of work at 3. {Thanks again MLK!} The problem is...once I am off the grid... I'm lost.  My blackberry apparently thinks I am in Tulsa at all times, which makes the map application a little tricky.  Good thing the iPhone is coming in less than a month!!!

This pic was in front of a hotel, and I just really liked these lamps and the graffiti.

21/365: Itsablurr
I have always really loved pictures in the subway where the train is blurred in the background.  Jaime was a good sport and let me try a few times to get a good one.  Jaime was in focus the best in this one, but I had some better background shots in some of the others.  I tried to take some artistic freedom and use photoshop to merge the best Jaime and the best background but after about an hour of work I gave up. This one was right out of the camera {well..minus the b+w}.

22/365: Ange I love You
This was on a wall next to a parking garage near our friend's house.  I feel like with the drips from the you and the deep red...doesn't it remind you of blood? No, not this blood...real blood.  C.r.ee.p.y.
For all of our sakes, I hope Ange loves him {or her} too.

23/365: Parking Garage.
This picture in black and white makes me feel like it's from an old movie.  I don't know why.

Ugh. Gotta go to work tomorrow. It's wayyyy past my bedtime.
